The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has extended the validity of Commercial Driver Licenses (CDLs) and Medical Cards that expire on or after March 1, 2020, until September 30, 2020.

This extension has been granted due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Many doctor’s offices have canceled appointments for basic check-ups to be able to focus on COVID-19 patients. This has restricted drivers from getting their DOT physicals to renew their medical cards. Along with State Driver’s License Agencies (SLDAs) being closed to the public, drivers have not been able to renew their CDL.
