What Belongs in a DOT Drug and Alcohol Policy?
FMCSA requires that motor carriers who employ drivers subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing have a compliant DOT Drug and Alcohol Policy. Employers are required to review the policy with regulated drivers and require them to sign a policy receipt stating they have read and understand the testing requirements.

It must include which employees are subject to testing, the testing requirements, how testing will be conducted, and the consequences for a positive result or a refusal to test. The policy must also list the substances prohibited.
